GB-NE-Hadrian's Wall (78 miles)

Region: North East England.
Unfortunately, we found that most of the wall has vanished west of Brampton and it is not worth trying to follow its actual route.
We also managed to identify some good stop off points to visit museums along the way.
Finally, riders should note that Newcastle is very busy in the morning so we visited Segedunum (the first waypoint) on our first evening and then after a cozy night in our hotel we skirted around Newcastle to go to a start from the second waypoint (Heddon on the wall).
GB-NI-Antrim Coast

Region: Northern Ireland.
A site seeing tour of the Antrim Coast in Northern Ireland.
GB-NI-UGP circuit

Region: Northern Ireland.
GB-NL-Alston HartsideCafe

Region: Northumberland.
This is a very popular route with bikers at the weekend.
On the outward trip the road leads to Alston which is well worth a stop for a look, but you must continue over the moors to the Hartside Cafe for your lunch. Take care as the roads are fast & sweeping, but there are also lots of accidents so the police presence can be high. The route can then continue down into Cumbria & the English Lake District, but for this trip we turn back to Alston and then head for the town of Allenheads. The route uses the back roads through Ovingham to make the way back to Newcastle without the hustle of the A69. At just over 100 miles, it is a nice easy days trip for that sunny day when you are at a loose end.
GB-NL-Hadrians Wall & Derwent Valley

Region: Northumberland.
This route explores the North Tyne Valley; travels over moorland to run parallel with Hadrian's Wall before descending again to Haltwhistle and across further moorland to Allendale Town and upper Allendale Valley. The road climbs to 1,829ft before it descends to Upper Weardale and crosses the Stanhope and Muggleswick Common Uplands to reach Edmundbyers, with views of the Derwent Reservoir. It then passes through Slaley Forest and Dipton Wood to return to Hexham.
GB-NL-Northumbria Coast and Castles

Region: Northumberland.
It starts & finishes from the Centre of Motorcycling in Newcastle called Westgate Hill.
The there is a bit of urban riding to navigate across Newcastle to the coast at Tynemouth.
There is a good photo opportunity at the Priory.
The ride now follows the coast, traveling North, through the seaside towns of Cullercoats & Whitley bay, before coming to a turn off to St Mary's Island. The car park at the lighthouse if free to Motorcycles and you can walk over to the lighthouse via the causeway if the tide is out!
Northwards again towards the towns of Amble, with its cafes & marina before reaching the Castle at Warkworth.
North again, you can turn off towards Alnmouth & explore the village & see the Pastel coloured houses.
North again you can turn off to Craster, famous for it's Kippers and have a meal at the Jolly Fisherman. From here it is possible to walk to Dunstanburgh Castle, or wait until you reach Embleton & walk South to the castle.
North again to the coastal village of Seahouses, with its traditional harbour where you can get a boat trip to the Farne Islands in the summer, to see the nesting sea birds & the Seals.
Seahouses is a good place for lunch, with traditional Fish & Chips, or you could travel North to Bamburgh to view the Quaint village & the magnificent Castle.
North again if the Tide is in your favour, you can cross over the causeway to Holy Island and view the Priory & Castle. Don't stay too long or the tide can trap you till the next low tide"!
South now towards Alnwick & its castle & Gardens. From here its east to follow the lanes through places such as Ulgham before reaching Morpeth.
Westwards now along the back lanes towards Belsay and finally south towards Newcastle again.
At about 190 miles, there are a lot of places to see & many stops to be made, so it will make a good long day ride or even take a weekend over it.
GB-NL-Kielder Rothbury

Region: Northumberland.
Another popular biking route of about 155 miles.
The route starts off traveling west to the Military Road yo Chollerford where there is the opportunity to make a slight detour to visit the Roman Fort at Chesters.
Back on route again the road heads up to Bellingham and to Kielder Reservoir. Just before reaching the dam wall, there is a small detour to Falstone for a cuppa at the Cafe in the converted schoolhouse.
You can drive across the dam wall for alternative views, but there are ample stopping places on the road to Kielder Village and the castle. There is another popular cafe at the castle.
The road North out of Kielder is across some remote moorland on narrow roads with passing places. Watch out for the sheep!
You will cross into Scotland just before Saughtree and then back into England just after joining the A68/ This point is a popular place to have a photo taken against the large stones announcing the border.
Southwards on the A68 you will pass through Byrness & and on to Otterburn.
Then you turn left towards Elsdon and on towards Rothbury. This is a very popular bikers venue and there is usually ample parking outside the Vale Cafe.
The next stretch heads south over the moors towards Belsy & Ponteland, before becoming a lot more urban on the final stretch back to Newcastle.

GB-SE-Ashford-Alfriston-Seaford

GB-SE-Seaford-Ashdown Forest-Ashford

Region: South East.
This route (starting in Asford) also takes in the Herstmonceux village, which has a castle complete with an Observatory. Alfriston is a quaint village with very old timbered pubs. As you reach the top of the hill out of Alfriston there is a viewing area that affords a great view of the Seven Sisters Estuary.

The return route (starting in Seaford) takes you through Ashdown Forest, which is Winne The Pooh country. Then onto Royal Tunbridge Wells.
GB-SE-Basingstoke-Alton Loop

Region: South East.
Great little route for anyone on a motorbike, although the A339 is notorious for being an accident spot. Great road, but treat it with care!
GB-SE-Circle-Bury Hill To Wessons

GB-SE-Circle-Boxhill To Bury Hill

GB-SE-Circle-Boxhill To Wesson's Country

Region: South East.
These three itineraries make a circular trip:
o Bury Hill to Wessons takes in the countryside as it meanders across West and East Sussex. I winds its way to a great motorbike cafe called "Wessons" in Horam near Heathfield.
o Boxhill To Bury Hill is a short run down from Surrey's top bike meeting place and cafe at Boxhill to West Sussex. Mostly main roads with some lovely countrside as you get nearer to Bury Hill. Look out for a carpark full of bikes at the weekends on your right. If you overshoot just go back round on the roundabout and your sorted.
o Boxhill To Wessons is a very long run down from the great bikers meeting place of Boxhill to another biking place at Wessons Cafe in Horam near Heathfield. The first part takes in some lovely country roads that have good tarmac on but hardly any cars to speak of. A little bit of motorway around Gatwick and you are back onto more scenic country roads undulating through the county of Sussex.
GB-SE-Herne Bay Route

Region: South East.
This route will take you to Kent's East Coast through some lovely countryside. Stop at Wickhambreaux and use The Rose pub on the village green - this is your typical Kent postcard village. Just a couple of miles along from this village is Grove Ferry with the Grove Ferry pub situated next to the river. Herne Bay & Whistable your quiet reserved seaside towns then follow the coast road through to the historic market town of Faversham.
Visit the UK's oldest brewery Shepherd and Neames, it has been brewing on site non stop since 1687. It has its own Artesian well from which it draws all its water. It is situated near Market place and Court Street in the town centre - it is mostly pedestrianised.
GB-SE-Kent-Sussex Trip

Region: South East.
This trip starts and ends in Ashford. Ashford is only 7 miles from the Channel Tunnel. The first destination is The Pantiles at Royal Tunbridge Wells, this is a very historic town with a Royal Charter. Tha Pan Tiles were in fact paid for by one of the Royal Family for the sum of £100. This route will take you through some of the most picturesque parts of Kent and East Sussex. Pretty villages include Cranbrook, Burwas, Sissinghurst, Biddenden, Hawkhurst, Woodchurch and the quaint town of Tenterden.
GB-SE-Newhaven Fort

Region: South East.
Newhaven Fort is an historic site that is worth a visit. The route takes you through the beautiful countryside of Kent and Sussex (East) Counties.
GB-SE-Pioneer Run Veteran Route

Region: South East.
Every year in the month of March motorcycles built before 1915 are ridden from Epsom Race Course to Brighton.
GB-SW-sea and be seen

Region: South West.
This trip takes in the best of Devons waterside towns as per the title Sea and be Seen.
GB-TW-Helmsley & Whitby

Region: Tyne and Wear.
This is a fairly boring ride from the start to Stokesley and the same back, where there was a lot of dual carriageway traffic.
The best of this trip is the ride from Stokesley to Helmsley. A fast sweeping road, but lots of police in attendance.
Stop at the Market Place in Helmsley - lots of fellow bikers. The off eastwards towards Pickering and then North along the Whitby road over the North Yorkshire moors. We turned off to Goathland, famous for the UK Series "Heartbeat". before riding to Whitby for some well earned fish & chips.
We took the coastal route north past Staithes and headed for Saltburn to do battle with the infamous Saltburn Bank. This is a steep inclined road with hairpins rising from beach to town level.
The journey then deteriorates into mixed dual carriageway riding until reaching Newcastle, but at least you can relax after the excitement of the North Yorkshire scenery.
GB-W-Chepstow-Pencraig

Region: Wales.
Here's a route from North Bristol to a little cottage some of us rented for a weekend of biking in North Wales. The ride up there by this route is often the best ride of the weekend.
I've started it in Chepstow, since the ride from North Bristol to there is rather uninteresting, except for a glimpse of Concorde as you pass Filton airfield. The Section from Chepstow to Usk and then Abergavenny is well known and very popular around here for being very scenic and having light traffic, but the best bit is probably the A483 between Crossgates and Newtown.
GB-W-North Wales tour

Region: Wales.
This is a scenic circular trip round north wales. Starts in Mold, then llansanan, llanwryst, betws-y-coed, Bala, Vernwy, pistil rhaeder falls, glyn ceriog, Llangollen, and terminating at the Ponderosa (of course). Start to finish is about 120 miles and should take all day to complete. Café stops in Betsw, Lake Vernwy (Artisans), Pystil Rhaeder falls. Best pub is (The West Arms Hotel, Llanarmon dc LL20 7LD. Not really suitable for R1s etc as many of the roads are narrow and twisting and gravelly. In Tom Tom preferences, select SHORTEST route. (sports bike select QUICKEST). If you want to finish earlier (say at lake Vernwy) go into the itinerary, pick the final destination (ponderosa) and mark as visited. Then navigate to your home. I have found that sometimes the itinerary overrides the destination if you don't do this. Watch out for the sheep, (especially Dolly)
GB-W-Freebird Mid Wales 190mi

Region: Wales.
This route is inspired by the British biker movie "Freebird"
http://www.freebirdmovie.com/index.html
This route starts by crossing Severn via the "Old Bridge" and takes minor roads to Hay-on-Wye around which the majority of the film was shot.
From here we continue north into mid-Wales before starting to head back south just before Newtown. A good pub lunch can be found at the New Inn before the descent into the Brecon Beacons allowing a stop at the Oasis which is a popular biker meeting stop at Abergavenny Bus station before your return back into England.
GB-W-Snowdonia-Saturday

Region: Wales.
Snowdonia in North Wales is a national park region and home to the highest mountain in Wales. This 200 mile loop takes in spectacular mountain roads such as Horseshoe Pass http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lwtg0hlQwyI&feature=related and Llanberis Pass http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwmDPwP3Aik Castles at Harlech and Caernarfon, lakes at Bala and Llyn Celyn, and coastal roads at Cardigan and Colwyn Bay.
There is a popular bikers cafe at the top of the Horseshoe Pass called Ponderosa Cafe http://www.ponderosacafe.co.uk/
Be cautious; pedestrians, sheep & fallen rock are all common on these roads.
GB-W-South Wales Routee

Region: Wales.
This is a good one day ride around south Wales, starting and finishing at the Bus Station in Abergavenny which is a long standing biker meeting place with a Cafe and toilets. Highlights of the ride are "1000 Sheep Road" and "Mountain Road". The latter is a fast road with good visibility and no junctions - the only danger here is the sheep which can roam onto the road.
Mountain road has some very twisty sections best taken with caution the first time you ride it. At this point you have the opportunity to stop for refreshments at another biker spot, the West End cafe in Llandovery, before heading off to Builth Wells. The final leg takes you from Builth back to the A40 near Crickhowell and ending back in Abergavenny. A suitable bike-friendly campsite can be found at http://www.llangorselake.co.uk/.
GB-YH-York-Scarborough-Whitby-York

Region: Yorkshire and the Humber.
This is a very nice environment, especially the Yorkshire Moors. The route is totally inappropriate for racing and only people who ride calm will enjoy it.
